In Episode #30, I started a three part series on vulnerability. I believe there’s too much at stake when we hide our true selves. It takes concerted conscious effort. I approached it more in the context of vulnerability with others and that a large part of being authentic is allowing yourself to be and feel vulnerable. And in order to FEEL vulnerable, we have to be able to see feelings as not failures but as an opportunity to teach us.
Brene’Brown said:
If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path. I know this is hard to believe when we’ve spent our lives thinking that vulnerability and weakness are synonyms but it’s true. I define vulnerability as uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure. (Daring Greatly p34)
What about vulnerability within our own selves? What would that sound like or be like? A few weeks ago, I re-read an email sent by Kara Loewentheil, JD, Master Cert Coach that was written Aug 26, 2021. I share parts of this awesome exploration of this concept with you, beginning with the foundation of the Life Coach School, The Model taught during certification: CTFAR: circumstances, thoughts, feelings, actions, results.
