Celebrate my 200th episode with me by reflecting some highlights along this journey!
Six years ago I learned my youngest identified as a LGBTQ+. I was white knuckling this intersection of parenting, conservative faith background and having an LGBTQ+ kiddo. There were way more questions than there were answers – and the answers I did have, brought me a lot of pain. Cognitive dissonance was a constant companion.
It would be a long while before I had the strength to give myself permission to have doubts and allow the questions I had. Eventually, I claimed and owned my spiritual sovereignty. It already existed and was already mine.
My Divinely directed path converged with life coaching, but it was not to be the destination. I have certified in and implemented new modalities–Trauma Certification with https://lindsaypoelmancoaching.com; Story Coaching with https://coachandkim.com; and Emotional Alchemy with https://sarahtrapkus.com.
I have written a book with https://keirabrinton.com (second book to be written on the show, Writer’s Island in June 2025) This first book, TransparentSEE: How I learned to see through my journey as a parent of a transgender kiddo, will soon be part of my own episode on upcoming docuseries, Legacy Makers https://www.legacymakerstv.com/home.
I have learned first hand that I don’t have to wait until I die to claim and develop my spiritual gifts; I am already a priestess, goddess, spiritual sovereign. I am a 4D+ spiritual being experiencing a 3D physical world.
What are you celebrating in your spiritual journey?

I’m Megan Skidmore. For two and a half years, I have been talking about evolving faith
journeys. I started to tire of the heaviness of this focus.
I had the clear message come through. It is time for Beyond the Shadow of Doubt podcast to
evolve into living Beyond the Shadow of Doubt podcast. With the same vulnerability and
unapologetic authenticity, I will be focusing on the joy in this journey, the life and the living that
comes on the other side of maybe, on the other side of what’s possible.
I want to talk about claiming spiritual sovereignty and becoming your own captain of your
vessel. Let’s celebrate releasing what no longer aligns for you and connecting with your higher
power and honor, expanding your energy field to make room for all things new. Mark your
calendars and set your reminder for this Friday.
I am hosting First Friday’s free coaching. So not only is this a great starting point to introduce
you to my work, you can come and experience what it’s like to be coached or watch someone
else be coached. Use the link to register in order to get the unique Zoom link.
They change each month for privacy reasons. See you soon. Welcome to the 200th episode of
Living Beyond the Shadow of Doubt podcast.
I am thrilled to share this milestone with you and share some of the milestones and insights
I’ve experienced along the way. According to ListenNotes.com, my podcast ranks in the top
2.5% podcasts in the world in my genre, which I am so excited about. First, a quick recap.
About six years ago, I learned my youngest identified as LGBTQ+. I remember meeting up with
my sister and nieces along with my kids in San Francisco. This was a trip we already had
planned before I knew of my child’s identity.
It was the month of June, and so you can imagine the rainbow flags were flying all over the city.
I remember I had a visceral response to all of the pride flags that I saw. I sensed my own
discomfort on an acute level.
At the time, if you would have told me that everything would be okay, matter of fact, better
than okay, I probably would have looked at you like you were crazy. In some ways, I felt like I
was white-knuckling this intersection of parenting, coming from a very conservative faith
background, and having an LGBTQ plus child in a way that only someone who has been raised
and taught certain things their entire life could. There were so many more questions than there
were answers, and the answers I did have brought me a lot of pain.
Cognitive dissonance was a constant companion for me. I can honestly say I felt, even before
then, that the road of a gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender person in the church, my faith of
origin, the LDS church, was something I would not have wished upon anyone because of how I
had been taught. It would be a long while before I had the strength to give myself permission
to actually have these doubts and allow the questions that were coming up for me.
I just wasn’t sure about some of the teachings I’d been given. The reality I was experiencing as
a parent with an LGBTQ plus child was not at all what I had been taught that it was or that it
should be. It would be years before I could say out loud that what I saw happening, and that
had been happening for decades prior, wasn’t okay.
It wouldn’t be until I truly owned my spiritual sovereignty. It already existed and was already
mine. I just hadn’t fully claimed it yet.
My divinely directed path converged with life coaching in 2020, but it was not to be the
destination. It was a beginning, however, and provided needed tools to support and navigate
these very tumultuous waters. I have since added many other tools to my toolbox.
Mindset work is only a small part. For deep and lasting growth, healing, evolution, and
transformation, you must take into account the nervous system, unprocessed trauma, parts
work, and meeting, seeing, and honoring our past selves, that inner child or rebellious teen or
that lost young adult. Additionally, I gained insight and experience into how inextricably
connected our emotional experience is with our physical body.
So it’s not accurate to say it’s just a thought. One must consider the impact of generational
trauma that has left its imprint upon their DNA. The energies we feel today are here because of
and connected to those of our ancestors.
It’s so much more than just a thought. So please do not gaslight yourself by saying or believing
such a thing. On this podcast journey, I’ve had the privilege of interviewing many amazing
guests.
One of my favorite episodes, 195, which incidentally is among the top three of the most
downloaded episodes, the top being episode 107 called Jesus Didn’t Care About Offending the
Pharisees with David of Mindful Faith on Instagram. And the second top downloaded episode is
episode 87, Spiritual Independence with my good friend Jeannie Burton. I highly encourage and
recommend that you listen to those episodes.
And according to listennotes.com, my podcast ranks in the top 2.5% podcasts in the world in my
genre, which I am so excited about. I had the privilege to facilitate an interview with six other
fellow mamas of LGBTQ plus kiddos, specifically transgender and non-binary. Connecting to
hear more personal aspects of their journeys and to normalize having a conversation with
those who get it and understand was amazing.
To say the hard parts out loud was incredibly healing. To collectively speak our truths, celebrate
one another and our kiddos was empowering and even sacred to witness how God or the
divine was present in one another’s journeys. I’m in awe as I consider the personal journey that
I have had that has progressed side by side with this podcast.
Later this summer or early fall of 2025, I will be publishing my first book, Transparency, how I
learned to see through my journey as a parent of a transgender kiddo. It will launch sometime
in the fall. And recently I have recorded my interview for my upcoming episode of the
docuseries Legacy Makers, which will begin airing June of 2025.
Additionally, I get to be a part of an upcoming show called Writer’s Island led by our fearless
Kira Britton, who is the CEO of JOA Publishing, the Mosaic Network, among other things. And
that will be filming the second week of June. Additionally, I have completed relationship trauma
certification with Lindsay Pullman and I’m in the process of completing emotional alchemy
certification with Sarah Trapkis, who is a master healer, a master coach.
And later this fall, I will complete part two with her and learn the art of being a spiritual healer. I
truly feel the divine guiding me each step of the way, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Throughout this journey, I have strived to create supportive and safe spaces for others
navigating similar situations, circumstances.
As I have learned that faith and doubt are intertwined and actually two sides of the same coin, I
have made it part of my mission to challenge the negative stigma around the discussions of
having questions and allowing these doubts with no shame, no guilt, or no shooting on
ourselves. By sharing my story, my hope is it’s an unspoken invitation for you to share yours. I
want to shed light on the beauty of questioning and the importance of being honest in our
spiritual journeys.
I invite you to challenge your narratives and be willing to consider that you might be wrong and
then if or when you are, be teachable. Be willing to admit that. I believe this is a necessary step
in healing ourselves and our relationships.
I am a part of Generation X and according to my podcast stats, many of you, my listeners are as
well. I believe we are the bridge between the boomers, the baby boomers, and the millennials.
Older millennials are our youngest siblings.
The youngest millennials are our nieces and nephews and niblings. Our children are Gen Zers
and our grandchildren, for those who have them, are Gen Alpha. Our grandparents were the
silent generation.
We still remember the stories that they shared with us and the way things were at the time. I
remember hearing my own grandmother say once, in my day, children were seen and not
heard. We are the living embodiment of the meridian of time in this century.
I’ve learned I don’t have to wait until after this life to claim and develop my spiritual gifts. I am
already a priestess, a goddess, a spiritual sovereign. I am a 4D spiritual being experiencing a 3D
physical world.
Up until now, this point in my life, I’ve believed that I’m subject to that world. Now I believe the
physical world or realm offers tools that were perhaps previously unavailable to us in our
journeys. For instance, as I have been certifying in emotional alchemy, I’ve learned it’s so
miraculous to learn to listen to the messages that are available to us through connecting to the
physical body while in a semi-hypnotic state.
By connecting to and listening to these messages, we heal so much. Many times, these are
ancestral wounds and generational trauma that epigenetics teach us were passed down to us.
We don’t know that we don’t have to carry them with us until we have awareness of them.
There are ways and modalities available to us that help us release the grasp they have on us. As
I celebrate this milestone, I am so deeply grateful for the community this podcast has
cultivated. Thank you to each one of you for joining me on this ride.
I look forward to continuing to share our journeys together and through insights, stories, and
tools to help empower you to navigate your own life transitions and alchemize them into your
life transformations. Thank you so much for being here with me today. If this resonates, I ask, I
invite, I encourage you to share with a friend, family member, or loved one.
